Let's Whitewash!

Original fireplace.jpg

One thing the inside really needed was to freshen up the fireplace. I love a brick fireplace but this one is dirty and made the room feel small.

Whitewashing was an easy, cheap solution. Mix 1/2 white paint and 1/2 water and paint away! It can become a mess since the paint is very loose, so beware. Whitewashing is an easier task than painting the fireplace. You don’t have to be exact and get every square centimeter.

With the two of us, this was complete in a little over an hour and it dried very quickly.

The easiest way to update the bright, brassy fireplace is with Rustoleum High Heat spray paint. Either take the doors out or cover the surrounding area with tape/paper and spray according to bottle directions.

What a difference!

This instantly updated the living space and made the already large room feel even bigger!

Another successful trip to Home Goods and the fireplace is all set!
